DON'T PUNISH YOURSELF !!!!!!!

BY RUNNING ON THE

TREADMILL / WALKER

STRAINS YOUR KNEE JOINTS, HEELS AND HIPS

Jogging or running on the TREADMILL leads to more stress on the hamstrings and calves than it does on the quadriceps, creating a muscle imbalance that often leads to knee injuries.

Treading new ground

Whats that, you ask? Looking like something out of Star Trek (but not quite so 70s), thats the brand new treadmill in Qi fitness facility at Churchgate.

This funky piece of equipment has a harness hanging from the arch that catches runners when they, literally, fall from exhaustion. Bought from a German company, HP-Cosmos, the model is the same as the four supplied to the Indian army in Pune, which is training India's Olympic hopefuls.

With arm rests for older people and a facility with which people can even run backwards, the treadmill is out of this world. We mean it. HP-Cosmos is the same company that supplied treadmills to NASA astronauts.

The treadmill was unveiled yesterday at the launch of Qis life care section, a place were medical care and fitness blend to give rise to the new age fitness barometer called medifit.

Heart surgeon Dr. Ramakant Panda will visit the centre at specific timings to examine cardiac patients. Tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi was a celebrity guest at the launch.
